Our team is the collaboration of over eighty years of experience and knowledge of the dairy farming industry. We have a wealth of knowledge at both a corporate and a farm-gate level.
We can provide you with guidance and advice on how to manage your farm system/s and get the most success out of your business.
Some of our consultants are FARMAX Accredited. We can also accurately test different scenarios to see how changes may affect the biological and financial feasibility of your farm.
Day-to-Day Advice
Our team are industry experts with many years experience in the agri sector. They help by creating better day-to-day practice, which relieving stress and bring back the joy of farming.
We do this by getting to know you and your farm. This includes regular on farm visits to discuss the day to day running of your business, how the farm is tracking for the season and any issues you have.

Financial & Strategic Planning
Finances are often one of the most stressful parts of any business. As clients of DFMS, we will work with you to implement systems and processes which simplify and streamline accounting.
It is no secret that one of the risks to our industry has been a volatile milk price. We assist farms to incorporate strategies to protect the business as much as possible and build in flexibility
to allow for sudden changes.
Environmental
We have a deep understanding to the environmental challenges and pressures faced by dairy farmers within our region.
With new environmental rules and regulations coming into force in and around Canterbury, we provide advice on ways to farm within the limitations set by regional councils whilst maintaining profitability.
The most common question farmers ask when discussing the environment is are there ways of reducing my nitrogen loss without effecting my farm profit? We can provide the answer to this using modelling tools to predict the impacts of good management practices.
We can also help farmers with their Land Use Consents, Farm Environment Plans, Nutrient Budgets
and Nitrogen Baseline Reports
to ensure they meet all their compliance obligations.
Our environmental consultants are Certified Nutrient Management Advisors, experienced in Overseer, have comprehensive farm systems knowledge and can help model both the environmental and economic effects of the proposed changes.
Dairy Effluent Warrant of Fitness’ (DeWOF’s)
are a great way of assessing whether your effluent system is fit for purpose, providing peace of mind for farmers, share milkers, milk companies and irrigation schemes. DeWOF’s could assist you with achieving a higher audit grade and ensuring this potentially high risk component of your farm system is under control.

Having a successful team key to running a successful business. Our consultants are dedicated to helping you build the right team to fit your business, whether that be a 50:50 share milker, a contact milker, a manager or a farm assistant.
We go through the process with you from start to finish including helping you sort through C.Vs, the interview process and providing advise regarding employment agreements.
